Set Design Meeting

Set Design Meeting

Today we had a meeting with Scott Monahan to discuss how our set was going to work and how we were going to build it so that it made sense and was within the budget. For this we had to draw out the set up we wanted and a few examples of the rooms we wanted, in detail so that Scott and Luke could get a accurate visual idea.

We made a few changes to make the filming day easier, for example we changed the location of our band performance from a basement in Hurtwood to the studio because it makes more sense and is easier to film and get different angles. It would be easier to alter the lighting to get the grunge look we wanted and it is easier to get the look of being in a doll's house.

To get the shots we wanted we are going to have to build two sets, next to each other, similar to the set of a music video from last year, posted below. This would then allow us to easily film our horizontal transitions to the next room through the pans across the wall. However, when panning downward through the floor into the 'basement', we will have to raise the floor onto stilts which would then make it easier for the panning downwards to happen.  We also decided that the rooms would have a dark feel to them which would as a result, convey a moody feeling contrasting with the idea of the perfect dolls house, but would at the same time link with the fighting of the couple, the genre of the music and the furniture turning into cardboard.
