Second Music Video Idea

Second Music Video Idea

For my second music video I decided to choose a completely different genre and chose to go for a country/pop feel and create a "Boy Next Door" star. He would have a sexual magnetism and would apply to Richard Dyer's theory that the star must be present and absent at the same time as the fans would want to be close to the star and feel like they could have a chance with him whereas he is instead absent and too far away. My artists is called Noah Shaw and is mid-twenties with brown/golden hair and is a kind hearted person with a good guy image. He plays guitar and writes his own songs (organic artist).

Music Video Idea

In the music video Noah himself is the singer of the song so is part narrative and part band. It involves Noah sat on a double bed, dressed in a suit and tie, with a guitar in the corner, laid out in front of him is polaroid photos, each with a label underneath. Noah sings the song and in turn the camera zooms into one of the polaroid's Noah is holding and it becomes the memory. Noah is always the one behind the camera. Memories include:
  • Getting Mr Whippy's at the beach
  • Cycling on a bike ride
  • A 'Happy Birthday' pancake
  • Proposal Dinner
  • Looking at Wedding Rings together but she is looking at the floor
After each memory there is a few seconds of Noah singing before he picks up the next photo. Camera then zooms in on a note saying 'Sorry...x'. An extreme close up of a tear falls down his cheek and then there is a final shot of her driving away in a wedding dress.
Using a classic song but making it acoustic and sung by a man should give a new outlook on the previously happy and dancing song. It could also attract the people that loved the original song.
