First Music Video Idea

First Music Video Idea

I started off by exploring an alternative/ indie genre by looking at relatively unknown artists, hoping that an idea would spring off of one of those. I decided to use the song 'Better Son or Daughter' by Rilo Kiley.

Music Video Idea

Using this song ideas began to form and eventually I created my star image. I envision an alternative looking artist called 'Riva McKenna' in her early twenties with defined eye make up, multiple tattoos, long red/ginger hair, bright red lipstick (trademark look for the artist) and a lot of jewellery.
For the music video I had the idea of having an entire narrative music video starting at the end so the audience will see how the artist got to where they were at the beginning of the video.
It starts with the artist (Riva McKenna) covered in paint standing at the edge of the end of the pool with eyes closed, falling backwards with arms outstretched and we see her submerged by the water.
We then see Riva floating in the pool looking up with the sun high in the sky, the camera is underneath in the water looking up at her back. Her hair would be flowing into the shot, carried with the water.
The sun then precedes to get brighter and brighter blinding the camera into white.
The next shot is out of the water, on the water level and an extreme close up of Riva bursting out of the water face first turned up toward the sun in slow motion.
It then cuts to shots of Riva happy and laughing with her friends in a normal setting, for example a pub and then we see her leaving with a boy friend.
It cuts to them painting room and laughing and having fun/
Cuts to back at the informal setting and boy enters with another girl. Riva is visibly upset as she leaves the pub.
She precedes to trash the room, throwing paint at the wall and smashes phone against wall.
Cuts to her walking toward pool, we see her turn around, lift up her arms and close her eyes.
